Having an argument with a chum who is getting married in Europe in summer.

Wedding is six in the evening, middle of August. wearing Number 1 is going to be warm. Is there a protocol for getting married in mess dress? Evening wedding, equivalent to DJ etc

Thoughts please

Question: We are talking RAF No 1 are we?

IIRC there is no alternative to the RAF Number 1 for a military wedding. No 5 Mess Dress is for formal Mess Functions only (mine is hotter than my No 1 anyway!). You cannot wear a sword with a Number 5.

You have 2 alternatives:

1. Contact the College Warrant Officer at Cranwell who is the font of all dress code knowledge (Phone number through RAF Cranwell Webpage).

2. Crack on, if nobody who is going to complain is attending, but don't invite Hello Magazine, 'cos then we will all find out because some t@rt will post it on here.

Regretfully the short sleeve tropical bush jacket is now obsolete, and looked great (when worn with the black buttons). A Sam Brown would have finished off the ensemble, the result being a passing resemblance to a Colonial Service District Officer. Would impress the Natives...possibly not the in-laws, though.
