Due to ilness and other issues during the last 12 months, I'm not going to get my 12 hours/flight with an instuctor in my second year to revalidate my license. Therefore, as I understand it, I'm going to have to do a skills test of some sort with an examiner.

I'm sure someone out there will be able to tell me:

1) Exactly what do you need to do with the examiner? Is it the same as the skills test minus the navigation?

2) Is there any kind of time limit that it needs to be done in?

You will need to fly a SEP revalidation LPC before the date of expiry, or, if the rating expires before you get a chance to do the LPC, then it becomes a SEP renewal LST. Do it within 5 years of the expiry date and the Examiner can sign you up there and then - otherwise you will need to send your paperwork off to the CAA.

All this should have been covered in your Air Law study.....

The LST/LPC does now include a mandatory navigation element, the content of which will depend on your recent flying activity and is at the Examiner's discretion.
