Looking for USN Sea King pilots who have been around for a while to ask them about UH-3's that were at PMRF Barking Sands.

I'll ask the question and see if anyone can tell me. When I was at PMRF for three days during RIMPAC 94, I swear that I saw Sea Kings with cargo doors on both sides of the aircraft! Much amber fluid was consumed but not enough to prevent me seeing a Sea King in a hover (with DHWRS) that I could see day light straight through the aircraft! When I got home to the Sqn in Oz, they didn't believe me! Can someone please tell me that I wasn't seeing things or should I have started going to AA sessions!

You are correct! the H-3's at Barking Sands were modified from the RH-3A configuration which was the anti-mine warfare configuration with two sliding doors, one per side to carry and tow the old sled. Some of these aircraft were snapped up by a logging operator in the US. Next time I'm dunnunda you owe me a Fosters!
