To those who know or have met Kenny Grant, an RAF training officer, and his wife Pat, the following Times article describes their son Thomas who was murdered on Friday as he intervened to stop a fight on a train:

Kenny and Pat are two of the nice people in this world and we know that they will be devasted by the loss of Thomas of whom they were immensly and justifiably proud. He died trying to make a difference in his entirely unselfish and caring way. That it ended in tragedy is an appalling waste of such a talented, unique and popular young man.
Kenny and Pat, like all your friends and colleagues, we send our heartfelt condolences.
