Hi,

Today I saw Pepper Spray for sale airside at KLIA, discuss.......

Do airports put limits and controls on what may be sold in a security controlled area?

I bought a model airplane made up of used bullet cartridges at Bejing Airport a few years back. I imagine that if I had been flying to the US and they somehow did an X-Ray scan of my bag, I would have been surrounded by SWAT teams!

If by KLIA you mean Kuala Lumpur, then if I recall correctly KL airport has the eminently sensible approach of no centralised security, you can go right through the airport, the security check is done right at the gate when boarding the aircraft. Each gate has scanners and screeners arrive as required. And thus everything you see for sale at the airport is before security.

It all seems so sensible compared to the traditional western approach I wonder it has not spread elsewhere.
