Hello All,

I am doing my homework on this process and would like to know about some of the less expensive schools that provide this ground school. I am an FAA ATP with about 9500 hours and a boat load of types on that ticket. So I from my readings I can do the 12 exam option.

I would like to keep the cost down as much as possible. Is anyone out there less expensive than the others? I will probablby need to do the distance learning option.

Thank you in advance,

Walt

With your experience you wont need to do an approved course, you will just need to do the 14 exams one way might be (to keep the cost down) buying second hand notes from one of the approved ground schools Bristol Ground School, Oxford there is a few listed on e-bay here

IronWalt,
If you have 3,000 hours on aircraft over 30,000 kg MTWA on public transport international (or similar) routes, including 1,500 hrs PIC, you can apply to the UK CAA for exemption from the ATPL (A) theory exams except Air Law and Human Performance, however, the licence will then be restricted to UK registered aircraft and you would have to apply to each respective JAA state for clearance to fly aircraft registered in their respective states.
See LASORS 2006, Section G 1.5 Note 2.
