So is the A318 the only airliner certified to operate at LCY other than the RJ85s? are there any weight restrictions on the A318 at LCY?

[T]his steeper slope would cause most jet aircraft to arrive over the runway too fast to land.

Wha???? .......

The A318 is not yet approved, that is the reason for the trials.
A list of all aircraft cleared for scheduled operation is here----

Just interested to know if it ever actually shut down on the apron?

(The approach may not be the only barrier to it's operation into LCY.)

Yes it did. It taxied to the alpha exit, then little further. It then shut down and was a tug pushed it, tail in, next to the fire station where it sat for about an hour or so. From my vantage point I saw lots of people milling about it, presumably Airbus bods with the LCY people and the CAA judging by the Flight report. Lots of them disappeared on board and didn't reappear so I guess went back to TLS with the aircraft.

Sorry I'd have moved it if I'd known it was getting in the way. More to the point, aren't there problems with the size of the 318 at LCY, vis a vis if you park it nose in to the terminal then because of its height the tail infringes the required runway clearance?

If anyone is interested there's an article about steep approaches in the A318 in the April edition of IFALPA News - which you can find on the IFALPA website...

Midland Dan - the slightly larger RJ100 is certified to operate LCY, not just the RJ85;)
