Allo Rob, can't see your pics at the mo (I will when I get home, looking forward to it!) but I welcome the Shuttleworth Season back! :ok:

Great pictures D_E, thank you.

What type of aircraft is that in the pic above the Hurricane, a Hawker Hind? That has to be one of the most beautiful bi-planes ever built. :ok:

Yes, it's a Hawker Hind.

In a few years' time we'll have a whole fleet of Hawker biplanes in the air (Hind, Nimrod, Demon, Fury, Audax). Now that's going to be a formation NOT to be missed.

Very nice set of pics as usual Rob. Did you get your gear back or have you bought all new stuff again? Whatever, you have not lost your touch.

Thanks, PPP.

No, I didn't get any of my equipment back but I got a very rapid payout (Reported on Monday, cleared funds on Wednesday) from my insurer, which did a great deal to ease a pretty stressful situation. I've replaced most of my equipment and I'm happily clicking away again.

The police wrote to me to say that they'd successfully prosecuted a pair of thieves for stealing my equipment (and several other car crimes) but they've not done me the courtesy of returning my phonecalls to find out if there's anything that hadn't been disposed of.

In the meantime, the new Shuttleworth season is upon us and the wings for the Fokker Triplane were delivered to Old Warden on Saturday (the fuselage will follow in two weeks) so that's enough to lift anyone's spirit.

Stunning photographs - whenever I think I know what I'm doing with a camera I need something like that to remind me!

Incidentally, what was happening with the Chipmunk and the green balloon?

Seen that many times.

It happens that just occasionally one goes through the disc or just happens to get out of the way down the side. Used to annoy me that I got all but one (or two!) in the Tiger Club displays.

You will know the aerodynamics of that I imagine G.

The balloon looks like it missed the prop but the next frame (shot at 8.5 fps) shows the debris of the burst balloon, so what you see here is the moment just before bursting.

Probably caused by an aerodynamic vortex bubble
