I've been reading Sea Harrier in the Falklands again.... interesting book, but you have to ask questions about the personalities involved. Obviously the book is very one sided, but I'd like to forget the usual and obvious service rivalry (its been covered frequently) and purely cover the issues between Hermes and Invincible, 800 and 801, and Sandy Vs Sharkey. I do recall reading Sandy Woodwards book some years ago, and have a memory of it being very dismissive of the Sea Harrier and its capabilities...?

There surely must be some substansive evidence about effectively who was right / wrong, or at least the seemingly bizarre orders / signals sent? Was Sharkey really able to get more out of the jet than 800NAS? Was Sandy Woodward really that anti-sea jet? Was everything really that skewed in favour of 800?

I really want to keep this inter-naval, and avoid the slaggings he gave anyone else such as the RAF Vulcan raid, etc as they have been covered elsewhere on PPRuNe before
