I have heard a rumour that there are potential delays to the Australian MRTT A330 conversion in Madrid. The aircraft is due to start in June but is it likely to meet the flight test programme in July 2007?

Anyone heard anything?

The 'green' aircraft should arrive at Madrid in early June.

It'll be a fantastic jet for the AT/AAR role; don't forget that Airbus want to sell it to others, so it's in their clear commercial interest to make sure that progress is not delayed!

The RAAF are lucky chaps - great aircraft, great base - and, above all, no stupid PFI nonsense!

The first aircraft is flying and has been conducting proximity trials over southern France with French Air Force KC-135s. It is now being painted at Toulouse before being transferred to Madrid for tanker fitout work.

I understand there are some delays in the order of six months with the boom which is currently being test flown on an A310 in Madrid. Should be able to report more in about four weeks.

Its still ongoing with the contract expected to be signed by the end of the year. The PFI is more complex than anyone thought. First aircraft due for conversion in Jan 08.

A quick glance at the A380/380F programme would show Airbus are intimately acquainted with delays.
