Why have Seville taken all of the EIN slots? Is it because they organised things earlier????

Any further news on actual aircraft types??

Cheers

dgutte,

Usually during an event such as this the security authorities aim to keep fans of rival teams segregated as much as possible. At a large airport fans may be segregated by arriving at different terminals (at the same airport) from each other. However, when the airport capacity is limited - such as at Eindhoven - it is usual for the airport to host one set of fans only (will probably bulk them out anyway) whilst fans of the other team are directed to a second airport nearby. This minimizes the risk of clashes between rival groups of fans, and eases the role of police and security agencies in marshalling fans to and from the stadium.

This is the most likely explanation for the distribution of fotball charter flights in this case.

Cheers, SHED.

Do you know which airports around Eindhoven they are operating to Orion? Liege and Cologne-Bonn(!) seem to be used, but is that all?

City Star looks a little out of place amongst the heavier metal!

Hopefully Holgate has answered your query re the spotting locations (not great but maybe Holgate has "other means" of being able to view ;) !)

If you get any pics I would be grateful for copies via e-mail if poss? I now live in Spain and miss good old MME.

So how did the airlift go?,watched all the fun and games from my back garden,..understand there was some bad delays,(over 2 hours),highlight for me was the corsair 747-300,low and slow straight over my house....and the corsair 747-400 holding over the east of the airport with a 321 for company!...just managed to catch the ltu a330, then had to dash to work.
Lets not talk about the match...the fans turned up in there thousands, pity the team didnt...:ugh:

From what I have heard and understood everything went well yesterday morning. There was a bit of a problem when the A330 turned up with a 747 still on stand 1, that wasn't planned. Have heard that some at the airport have said it was busy but not chaotic. ATC had some fun though with a fly in at EGXU as well but managed fine.
Not sure how this morning went though.

Would be interested to hear how things went in the terminal from a passenger point of view?

I particularly enjoyed the bit where the LTU A300(?) vacated and held at Bravo waiting for his parking slot which was occupied by a 737 that needed to use the Bravo taxiway (now blocked by the A300)! Cue much confusion, you could almost see the question marks over air traffic :D

It almost looked like a real airport or a while :)

I heard that queues for security were ridiculous, which doesn't surprise me considering they couldn't handle the LHR and ALC flights (the only 2 flights leaving) that I experienced a few months ago flying out to ALC.

By all accounts a 747 was in the hold for a good while because there was no space for it on the ground.

WHERE IS DTV???

mmeteesside
13th May 2006, 16:58
Teesside

I thought DTV did extremely well to handle that amount of flights alongside the normal scheduled flights....and with a very small number of stands to play with, that made it even harder. Many other airports I am sure would have refused that number of extra flights

The LTU was a A330 not A300 ,

Only just noticed this thread.

On the return flights, the CRS B744 was held for around 50 minutes while his companions in the B743 solved a small tech hitch as they were blocking the only widebody stand. It appeared flow control allowed the widebodies to depart earlier than their slots too (since CTOTs were issued to ensure the widebody aircraft wouldn't arrive any more than 1 per hour). Not that many delays, certainly interesting when it came to parking arrangements since a lot of the based aircraft had to stay on the main apron. TOM had their B738 into the corner of 5R(R) (where the LTU A330 parked the previous morning), and one BMI Baby and the BMA were left on stands 3 and 4 respectively.

A great job by the Duty Officer who allocated stands such that traffic kept moving and thankfully, Stand 9 was the furthest any aircraft had to park. No busses though - passengers were WALKED across the taxiway and into the terminal (slightly worrying crossing pax from stand 8 with an inbound B752 to stand 9!)

Shame about the result though - never mind, always next time and the experience the players will have gained should help them next season!

Wouldn't it be the departure airfield which let them go early ?? Flow Controllers don't issue executive instructions or clearances.

CTOTs also have a 15 minute window so it could be quite possible for one aircraft to slip in to another hourly slot period (early or later). :ok: Controllers along the way can also shave time off by giving direct routes.

It could have been Radar, but by nature of the fact Flow Control were on the telephone to us most of the evening asking if we could accept one a bit earlier the chances are the departure aerodrome were bugging flow enough to get them to say "Yes, just go". Of course I realise the 15 minute window, but one turned up 45 minutes ahead of schedule ;-) (although yes I concede some of that may be due to a direct routing - OTR DCT TD instead of up through P18).

They predicted around 250 extra flights to the Paris area airports with fans, media and officials from both teams.

The LTU was due to park on stand one, which was being occupied by a 747, but as this needed to pushback east to backtrack for 05, the LTU was then directed to stand 5R which at the time had the 737 on it. The 747 was held for push, the 737 taxiied to D1, the LTU was marshalled onto 5R (only encroaching the A taxiway by a few feet) then the 747 went to Bravo.
Inbetween all of that the FA20s and Citations looked like toys taxiing around.

I believe that the last 747 wasn't held long at all.
