just curious.

today about 15.30 a small grey pointy beast flew east-north-east from the prestwick area, now because of our location - between Prestick and Glasgow airport - we never, ever get fast jet overflights, and i was wondering if perhaps another civil aircraft had been forgetting to answer the radio or had flown in a direction not prescribed by ATC?

cheers, CC

edited to add: a merlin has just flown around my house, have i done something to displease someone?

Nothing so dramatic - was just an F3 RTB Leuchars after PD @ Prestwick :)

without wishing to sound like a complete retard, what does 'PD' mean?

cheers, CC

PD = Practice Diversion

Even that sounds marginally more exciting than it is - it's just a training approach, either a roller or an overshoot.

Fear not, cokecan. There is a wise saying: "In aviation, there is no such thing as a stupid question".

Normally always an overshoot tho because as soon as the wheels touch the deck at a civvy airfield it costs a fortune!

If you just do an approach all you get hit for is ATC fees! :ok:
