I would expect somewhere in the region of 2000 and diminishing quickly, if my various sources are to be believed...:ok:

Of course they have'nt had to reach the bottom of the barrell yet!!...;)

Thanks Howard.

Are you suggesting from your sources that demand might out strip supply sometime in the future.

TD, I would'nt expect that to happen in the short term, but definately in the medium term, 3 to 5 years there is a chance.

1/2 of the applicants most companies have on their books do not currently meet the minimum requirements.

The pool of qualified applicants is definately getting smaller.:ok:

You may not have to dream much longer....;)

Thanks Howard for the response.

I hope you are right, I am not sure but guessing the number of new CPL's coming through is dropping as there are more attractive career paths these days, going to Uni, 3 yr degree and your an accountant or IT professional on more money. Maybe the tide is turning slowly and min hrs will get you in.
Thanks, I feel somewhat more positive after reading your post.

The statistics here - http://www.casa.gov.au/fcl/fcl_req.htm are interesting - shame they are not up to date.

How so tinpis, do you mean it will have an effect on how many people will be travelling or that the cost of training will be effected negatively?

TD think 'world recession'....if oil keeps climbing it's a likely outcome.

Turbine Dreamer - another way to look at supply and demand is to have a look at the figures http://www.casa.gov.au/fcl/fcl_req.htm for ATPL in Australia. It remains fairly constant throughout the period shown. My own company has noted that the pool of over experienced drivers is drying up but they still have a good selection at the 1500- 2000 hour mark. Their main complaint is the quality of interview. Basic things like - presentation, knowing your current aircraft, knowing what symbols represent what on your charts etc. It is a shame to see candidates missing the job offer because of such basic stuff. (but vitally important reasons.)
