Recommendations for buying "Bose Aviation X"

I am about to buy a (ludicrously expensive) Bose Aviation X headset. Can anyone recommend a place to buy them in Australia - or online from an Australian retailer?

I bought mine directly from Bose, who shipped them overnight airfreight to a hotel I was expecting to check into. Didn't make it to the hotel but did get my headset.

Robert Elber is/was the man to speak to 1800 023 367 or 04 3842-9237. He's the aviation specialist at Bose.

I've had one warranty claim, and had to airfreight the headset to Bose in SYD. They turned the headset around in 8 hours! :ok:

I bought mine direct from BOSE supplier in the US via Ebay. Risky, but I ended up paying around $1,150 AUD (inc. shipping). :ok:

I have just sold my aircraft and the purchaser wanted my Bose X's (2 off) with it so I need to get 2 more sets myself and yes they are expensive but definately worth it. The only problem I had with them was an occasional "honnnkkk" sound that would occur for about a sec then dissappear :hmm:

I bought a bose a few months back now, has worked great. The only problem ive had was one day i was in the right seat and it made some wierd noise occasionally, as if the noise canceling turned off then on quickly, mite be that hooonk noise you are talking about.

A good thing I've noticed is if you turn the headset volume to minimum (and turn the panel volume up) it gets rid of that annoying background noise you get from the beacon or strobes.

All good advice. I too recently bought a Bose headeset here in NZ and have found it to be great and definitely worth the investment!

We trialled them a couple of years ago. Personally, I thought they were fantastic.

That honking sound used to happen whenever the ear to headset seal was momentarily broken, ie putting sunnies on or off, having a scratch, etc. Must be something to do with the microphones in the noise cancelling circuit or similar.

I am aware of when the seal is broken you get a droning sound from the ANR but this other sound is different - it just unexpectedly happens. Talking to a retailer of them he said his pair does the same and has been meaning to contact Bose about it as it isn't right.

i just tried some david clark with noise cancelling, and wow what a difference, i brought my normal 12 yr old david clark 1020 along for comparison and the 13x really works.
It was fantastic, i could hear centre like he was sitting next to me. I will definitely buy a noise cancelling headset but i havent tried the bose.
has anyone tried both dc and bose?
I would reccommend the dc to anyone who cares about their hearing.

I have used these when riding the lift

Works wonders.

That noise of the ANR cutting in and out has been solved in our Gondolla by making sure any 3G phones are turned off.

Doesn't happen anymore,

Worked for us.

Now ski patrol are happy. Think this works with ipod ANR to.
