The last remaining 1-11 at SEN has been cleaned and had placed on it British Heart Foundation legends. Does anyone have any info as to what this is about apart from the obvious, as it is not as though the aircraftv can fly anywhere.

Photos and details can be found on Airliners.net.

Apparently it is in connection with the recent London Marathon and fund raising activities of an airport connection.

Cheers

My son informs me that this a/c is like the masses to be cut up. Already the two engines have been removed and left the airport having been sold. My question assuming they are 'Spey' engines to whom or what might they be sold as surely there are no a/c flying, using these emgines?

Still some 1-11s flying here and there surely. As recently as December last year I was lucky enough to fly in a RAFO (Royal Air Force of Oman) 1-11 between Muscat and Salalah....

.... and I'm no engine spotter it certainly sounded the same as it ever did - but then my hearing's probably not the same as it ever was!!

There's even a yahoo group dedicated the original regional jet (Not so trick question - what was the jet used first by many US airlines?) here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BAC1-11/

It reported that all three of the Boscombe Down 1-11s were flying around Hurn airport last week - where the majority of the type were built.
