the Globe and Mail reports this morning (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20060421.wxplanes21/BNStory/Front/?page=rss&id=RTGAM.20060421.wxplanes21) a proposed order of 6 x C-17 for the Canadian Forces in a similar deal to Australia's order of 4. The word is that this would delay the C-130J procurement favoured by the Liberals and the CDS and keeps the C-17 line open somewhat longer.

have four times the payload and twice the range of the C-130 Hercules. Unlike the much smaller Hercules, they can also be refuelled in flight.
