Bob Tait's books are the ducks nuts and the online practice exams I was happy with too.

But!

Having forked out over $100 for both in 1 subject (performance & planning), I discovered that the online exam question bank consists of a very high percentage of questions already provided with worked answers in the book. Also, the online exams just give a 'right or wrong' response

Has anyone else noticed this? Is this likely to be an ongoing issue across all of the CPL subjects? As I can't see the point in buying both am I better off learing from the sylabus or another text and using the exams or using the book and someone else's exams?

Anyone got some feedback they can share?

Thanks, UTR.

yes the bob tait exams give you a right wrong only but I actually find the format to be a good one.
The result you get looks identical to a CASA cyber exam and tells you what you got wrong and what topic it was, the idea being that if you got a question on that part of the syllabus wrong, you dont know it well enough and need to restudy that section.

Simply telling you the right answer, even with a brief explanation as to why will not teach you what you did wrong, just how to get that particular question right the next time. At least thats the way I see it.

As for the books I unfortunately got sucked in by the fact that the ATC books came in a complete package but am now wishing I got Bob Tait instead

Hey UTR. I am doing my CPL's at the moment and have 2 to go (one being performance), and yes I got his cyber exams for this particular exam. Now I think Bob's a champ too, his texts are easy to understand for dummies like me, and the questions throughout (and answers) make life very easy. But I must say the cyber exams are about an 80% repeat of the exams in the book. Whether its a better format, I'd say no. Yes its better than the 'real thing' cos once you hit submit and the exam is marked, instead of getting the annoying KDR that says the 'subject' you need to concentrate on, and not what answer you got wrong, you can hit BACK and check it out which one you got wrong. I also used to go through each of his exams, hit print screen, paste into MSPAINT then trim it and paste into word and print them out for a hard copy (this took forever), anyway just did 3 exams over the last week without his cyber exams and no problem at all! :ok: Though I did get the human factors one of him as a mate said check it out there are heaps of curly ones in there, and he did have quite a few stray questions in there that helped, for such an annoying exam. Anyway I would save your bucks personally. Cheers! :ok:

Don't you just hate it when you get 98% and still get a KDR:E
