Hi,

I'm a PPL(A) pilot with some 60 hours and have been checking out AEROFAN's website. I'm pretty confident with them and will visit and check out the school and campus out in the near future. I'm planning to start JET First Officer - program there on next January (2007).

I'm based in Finland and just wondering about AEROFAN's medical 1 requirements...they require spanish medical 1, don't they accept any other one? Shouldn't medical requirements be the same in all JAA countries anyways?

The other question is that where in Malaga I can do the spanish medical 1? I'm going to visit malaga in a month so I'd like to do it in the meanwhile I'm there. It costs some 330euros, right? Could you, my fellow spanish pilots, suggest me a couple of good aviation doctors in Malaga/Benalmadena area?

You may also send me privat email if you will.

Thanks and have a good one!

Hi qnh78;
If I were you I´d pass the medical in spain; I dunno if there is any medical centre autorized in malaga, but in seville there is Airsalud, phone +0034 616 910 196 or +0034 954 001 724 (although I think they wont speak english), where you can pass the initial examination.
The cost may vary between 250 and 350 € depending on the medical centre you are.
Hope this helps

I think (almost sure) that if you have already a valid class 1 medical according to Jar-Fcl3, you just won't need to do it again in Spain ! You will have to make it recognized by the spanish CAA (so called DGAC), and then you will make your renewals directly in Spain.
If anyway you have to do your initial one in Spain, bear in mind that the Civil Aviation Medical center at Madrid has the reputation to be veeeery cool with you (the one at Barcelona is far more strict ) :ok: .

PS: Spain is a wonderful place to live in, but the spanish administration... :yuk:

I also believe that any JAR-FCL3 medical should do it, but this is a point you can clear up with Aerofan.

Also ask them about the details should you need to do your medical in Spain. What Icing says matches what I was told about a month ago: there are only two places where you can get an initial Spanish Class 1, one is a private centre in Barcelona, the other some public place called CIMA, in Madrid. Everyone I've met told me CIMA is the place to go for the reasons stated by Icing. I tried to contact them while I was in Spain so I could have my medical done there (at €330 it's a lot cheaper than a UK one), but they don't seem to answer their telephone, so be sure to ask Aerofan how you should go about getting an appointment.

As far as I know you can pass your Class 1 medical in a JAA country (ie. UK) and exercise the privileges of your medical in another member state (ie. Spain) as long as your medical has been issued under JAR-FCL rules.:ok:

bubble, thats true if you already have cpl/IR. According to the JAR's you have to
have national medical for initial training unless there is an agreement between the the member states.

Good luck and may the force be with you :ok:

Oppps! Thanks for that info.
I'm just talking by my own experience. I passed my initial Class 1 in UK and then I finished my PPL in UK, after that completed my commercial training in Spain.;)
