Quick question for the US based freighter pilots:
Can you take the 15% HK tax and write it off as a foreign earned tax credit? Or are you NOT considered as having a foreign tax residence? I researched on the IRS publications, but it seems to me that a permanent basing in the States, despite that you are working for a foreign based employer that witholds foreign taxes, does not qualify as a foreign tax residence.
Sorry if I got a little technical, but the guys I'm asking this question to know what I'm talking about.
Thanks

You don't have to pay HKG taxes if you are paying salary based income taxes to another country.
The HKG IRD refrence:
http://www.ird.gov.hk/eng/pdf/e_dipn10.pdf

None of the 60 days in HKG just claim exemption 8 (1) (A) (C)

Good luck
