Advice Atpl in USA or not ?

Hi this is my first post
My name is Alan, I am 21 years old and I live in Italy.
This is my situation. I obtained the PPL license about 4 years ago, I
then subscribed to the ATPL course here in Italy, for various reasons I
didn't complete the course. I had fly time of 40 hours, and had
followed the classroom lessons. As of now my total time is 90 hours.
I would like to enroll In an American flight school.

What do you recommend?

FIRST

I do a cpl/ir/me FAA in texas arlington (I have a friend there).
I return in italy, do the written exams atpl.
Then, can i do the conversion in Spain?
How much is the total hours for the conversation from FAA to JAA?(5h for cpl, and 15h for IR ?

or

SECOND

Enroll in a school like (naples-orlando-etc), and than do the conversion in uk?



I prefer the first choice...What do you think ?

your querry could get more replies in wannabe section try the caa website under lasors or something like that they have the details as to what is required section d d1.2(d) i believe, i may be wrong,but section d deals with flight training and conversion of non-jaa professional licence, and reg us or uk it is upto how much money you can afford to throw away it comes down to i suppose

My advice is to go to somewhere like Canada, where the flight training is of a generally higher standard than the US, and the exams much closer to the JAA equivalents.

2.
Also JAR IR conversions from the Canadian licence in my experience tend to be less problematic than FAA (on a similar topic I have met FAA PPL's I wouldn't let anywhere near an Airfield never mind an a/c).

3.
Do your CPL/IR in Canada, JAA written ATPL's at the same time, finish, come to UK, convert ICAO IR and CPL to the JAA equivalents, get fATPL and do the MCC.

4.
Oh yes, if you are rich, just buy some European 737 EFIS time.. (usually hand-in-hand with purchasing your TR).

5.
Get Job on shiny new jet. Show off to Pals, pull hot chicks.

If you choose Texas, make SURE that you have the correct visa. you can not train under any form of visa waiver scheme.

stay 6months with your friend in TX,get a cheap car!
go to the local airport, rent a plane and call a free lance instructor.
log 250hours, pass your IR ME.

come back to EU, do your 14 exams with bristol by exemple, u can start in the USA (home study).then fly the 15-20 h multi and medical, pass the CAA exams , and you are set.

if you are 21, you should be finished and unemployed at 24.:E

or get married with a cowgirl, and fly a jet in dallas!

In theory i will stay in texas about 4 month.

I try to do cpl/ir/me in 4 month :eek:

I think i will do my exams here in italy, becasue I have just done the ground school.
