Has anyone seen the film one six right?

The DVD is available in the US / mail order, but is the $28.95 better spent on 0.2hrs dual?

Its a good film, well made and edited. Yeed a strong stomach to cope with some of the typical American oversentimentality (you know we won every war on our own sort of stuff) but I enjoyed overall.

Its about Van Nuys airport in the LA area.

It depends on your viewpoint, and how much you need 10mins of dual.

I have watched it 3 times. It is worth the money, and I`ll watch it again at some point.

If in the 10mins of flying you would learn something that will save your life, do that instead ;)

I enjoyed it but if you're really having to trade off the price against flying time then go for the flying.

My favourite bit by a LONG way is the "extra" showing a Pitts flying an acro sequence. I leave it in the DVD player and watch it when I need cheering up.

Not 100% serious about the 0.2hrs dual! :)

You guys who've seen it, I presume on DVD? Is it only region 1, or multi-region?

Cheers,

A

Here's the IMDB page for this film: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0475994/

It's currently got a rating of 10 out of 10. I'd never even heard of it, thanks for heads up so that I can flag it up on my radar screen.

That bit in the trailer for it, where they follow the DC3 down, now that is something else, superb bit of filming, the way the camera just seems to float around it, I absoloutely love it.

It’s now on European release. Ordered mine last week from sportys.

I heard a review from a US guy on an aviation podcast. He gave it top marks.

Can’t wait.

It’s now on European release.
Where?
Would love to buy it but Sportys is too expensive with their minimum shipping costs for international shipping only for it then to be hit with import duty and VAT.

Would also love to get a copy. Surprised there are none on ebay.co.uk ;)

I have e-mailed the distributor to see if there's any suppliers in the EU, else asked could I have a batch of region 2's please. I'll keep you all posted.

I am pretty sure there will not ever be one on e-bay, as a pilots who were bothered enough to buy it will want to keep it!

I did promise that I was going to let you guys know about this, so after a slight delay, here's the answer.

The NTSC version is not region encoded.

I could buy a min of 3000 copies of a PAL version for a few tens of thousands of pounds and sell you all one. I did consider it for a bit. It sounded like one way of making some money, but I'll stick to what I do better.

So, sorry folks - the NTSC version ex-USA is the way forward for now.

Cheers,

Andrew

I was round at a friend's tonight, who just happened to say, "Hey, I've got this film..."
It was very good, lovely camera work. I drove home through sunny California, not really down the dark A14...
Nearly cried at this bit about Meigs Field though :{

Looks like it has been pulled...watched it yesterday and today the google thing doesn't work...ordered my copy yesterday before seeing the google link but received an email this morning from sportys suggesting they cannot supply international orders because of format difficulties. Problem being addressed and we'll get back to you etc.

Watching the film online in a comressed format is missing the point of what the producer & director were trying to do. Much better to watch the original- which they did in High Def.
