ATC said the vertical sep was 1,000ft.

Here's my dilemma.....im doing Physics A level and in class we spent the lesson discussing as to whether the vert sep was actually 1000ft or less?

Now taking into account the limitations is it possible to calculate the difference in height between the 2 a/c's from the camera angle of the photographer? We used a technique where we take the real measurement of the 2 types of a/c, and compare them to the photograph image and find a scale to see if difference was above or below 1000ft, a crude method i know but we came to the conclusion that the seperation was under 1000ft

Can all you guys help pls? Any other formula to help work it out and show how?

Thanks :ok:

Use the PPRuNe search engine to find the other thread and relevant details. There is a formula and you will find out how it works.

However, we don't like subjects to be thrashed or started over so I will close this one. But, the answer is on PPRuNe.
