I'm in the process of deciding which school to attend to do my complete cpl(including ppl) training/study.I'm considering the schools at Maroochydore, Caloundra, Coolangatta and Brisbane.

If anyone has had any good or bad experiences with these flight schools I would really appreciate hearing your opinion.

Why not try something closer to base? Bankstown perhaps? I am looking into going to a school in the Sydney/Bankstown areas myself.

See thread under the Oz forums...maybe that'll help.

Bankstown is not avery nice area to live and if I travel there daily from where I currently live in Sydney it would take about an hour and a half each way.

I'd rather relocate to Queensland for a year.Better weather, nicer place to live and cheaper.

Check out the thread on page 2 called 'Flying Schools'. It was a very similar question to what you are asking now.

PM me if you'd like some information about the schools in the area.

Err, ever thought about going a little further up the Queensland coast? Mackay provides training from ab initio to MECIR, CTA experience without being stuffed around (much), live within 10 minutes of the airport, casual lifestyle, all major facilities etc. The coal boom means that rental properties are difficult to find, but if you were interested I could ask questions on the airfield about possible sharing.

Just a thought.

:) whoa, steady up Bino's... you'll have people thinking that you're really not a grumpy old bugger after all :ok: but your point is valid, it's best of both worlds.

Or a bit further to Innisfail - Bob H. is a well respected trainer.

Geeham,

Although I live in NSW, it is hard to beat SE Queensland for some of the best flying to be had in OZ. Not only the flying and the costs, but the weather and the scenery is fabulous on the Sunshine Coast. It would also be hard to beat the lifestyle. (Remember most of your time while training will be spent on the ground)

Close enough to Brisbane and Maroochydore but not too close.

My son went through to CPL at Caloundra couple of years ago.

Geeham,

If you are considering the Gold Coast, I would highly recommend Air Gold Coast. I have done my PPL there and about to start CPL. Good rates, knowledgeable instructors and great scenery. Gold Coast is CTA and is a great environment to fly in.

thanks for all the replies,:ok: :ok:

I"m leaning towards gold coast or sunshine coast(as there are surfing beaches nearby-although not the #1 priority this is also important to me as i'll be there for a year at least)but will look into those schools up north too.

What's the one in Mackay called?

Check out Redcliffe Aero Club. They seem pretty good and are not far away from the sunshine coast.

Like VH-BUA said, Air Gold Coast is excellent on the Gold Coast, great to fly out of as well, and good surf all round. :8

There are actually three flying schools in Mackay. Air Pioneer is the one omitted by the previous poster.
