Time to jump on the bandwagon now.

If you have a picture of your aeroplane or yourself or even pictures taken whilst flying around, anything really, then post the picture/s here.

To do that CLICK HERE (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=145070) and follow the instructions. Obviously do not send your pictures to the guys named in that thread, you can send any to me and I will host them for you.

Here are a few of mine. This first one is a PA-38, took us to the Sandown fly-in last year with ppruner Cloud69........

http://www.btinternet.com/~paul.evans28/pa28.jpg

Another taken during some brilliant aeros with Paulo.........

Upside down..

http://www.btinternet.com/~paul.evans28/L4.jpg

and pointing straight down! :ooh: :uhoh:

http://www.btinternet.com/~paul.evans28/L11.jpg

I have millions more, let us see yours, approaches to airfields, in-flight, nice sunsets, sunrise, self-portraits etc, anything really, share them with us here please. :)

I know I posted this on another thread - but I love it - is it okay to go here as well? 3,500 feet near Milton Keynes last Sunday:

This was coasting in over Ramsgate from a trip to Belgium:
http://www.claireandben.com/ramsgate.jpg

And finally, approach to the old 04 (now 03) at Cranfield, with a very dirty windshield!

Great plan, BRL, a bit like "Rotorheads around the World" Photo Gallery. (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=76347)
Might I please reconfirm Heliport's recommendation:
"Size is important! Picture width should not exceed 850 pixels MAXIMUM."
(I would suggest less than that)
Please edit pictures to no more than 72 dpi, since the majority of computer screens only have 72 dots per inch, so anything more is a waste of download time.

Here's me being a hooligan a year or two back:
http://www.dubtrub.freeuk.com/pprune203.jpg
..and in a different coloured aircraft on a certain beach that Pitts2112 and some others might recognise:
http://www.dubtrub.freeuk.com/pprune204.jpg
Of course, landing and parking on the lawn of a Stately Home is a must!

Hey Dub Trub

Where was the stately home - quite fancy a go at that - but I'm guessing I may be pushing it with a C172?

dwshimoda It was a private residence near Newbury, but the then occupants have since emigrated. I had to watch for the Ha Ha, though!

It wouldn't have suited a 172 (perhaps a Reims Rocket might have been OK)

Yep sure is. It was about an hour after sunrise so the haze hadn't yet burnt off in the valleys, also the colour of the scrub/bush was a mixture of violet and green. We were up at fl65 at the time.

Pics were taken by a fellow PPruner (although I cannot remember his PPrune user name :O )

Hi All,

As this is only my second post on here (though I've been trawling this site far longer - its so damn useful) I thought I'd say hello to everyone anyway!

Some pics from my short time on my UAS (appologies if these pics are the wrong size - I'm not too good at posting pics reliably yet).

Could you please resize the pictures above down to about 600x480.
The ones above are huge, not good if someone is looking at the page using dial-up etc. I would have a crack at doing it myself but I have no time at all today.

Please, if you are going to post a picture, make sure it is not more than 800x600.

600x480 would be the ideal size for here.

Thank you and keep them coming, they are superb. :ok:

is this the aerodrome used to film Top Gear????

Leezyjet
1st Feb 2006, 12:32
Yes it is.

The green A framed building in the middle is the studio (note: no big TOP GEAR logo on the roof as shown on the opening titles), and the last 2 corners of the track can be seen where the taxiway leaves the runway. Just infront of the red brick building to the left, you can just make out the start/finish line which is the faint white splodge on the ground.

Cheers for the comment Cessnasey - I'll pass it onto my friend when I see him in about an hour. He is also a pilot too, but on these occasions, I was flying and he was happy to shoot pics out of the window as he doesn't usually get chance to when he is flying.

It's a Canon 10D (or is it D10 ??) with a 100-400mm lense with image stabilizer. Cost him around £3000 for the whole lot.

You can get them pretty cheap now on ebay, around £300 for the body and £800 for the lense or the new Cannon EOS350D does more or less the same job for much less - brand new they are about £800 IIRC with a 50mm and a 300mm lense although it isn't as good as the 100-400 - you will still get very good results.

Hi Leezyjet and Cessnasey,

I'm the mystery photographer!

The camera I use is a Canon EOS 10D and a 100-400mm lens with Image Stabiliser as Lee said. Spot on with the cost, was about £3000 total. It's an awesome piece of kit - perfect for aerial or air-air photography. (I've got used to flying a C172 with the door off recently - a truly hair raising experience to start with  )

It all works very well especially with the Image Stabiliser attached to a quality camera when you're bouncing around all over the place at low level and you need a steady, sharp shot.

BRL, the mountain picture (http://www.fl400.com/Algoa/pages/IMG_9752.htm) is real - no photoshop effects, just the basic crop, resize, rotate. No funny business. South Africa really is an amazing flying experience. The full album for Leezyjet's and my trip is at: www.FL400.com/Algoa

Pictures from our 3 trips around London are here: http://www.FL400.com/Blackbushe (too many to post on this thread)

There are way too many pictures of sunny CAVOK days here ;) , so here is my contribution to balance things up a bit. Genuine Yorkshire Clag, flying westbound from the Humber Bridge along the estuary. My godson's very first flight - "The best day of my life - ever" was his quote, so I promised to take him up on a blue sky day soon for even better views.

Thanks.

I wasn't aware that A319 could get in and out of Biggin. I know that they can just about do it at LCY, but a 737 can't.

There was a bit in Skyport recently that they really want to increase the use of Biggin (commerically) in the future, but still need the go ahead from Bromley Council first.

The current Council have told the local residents "no expansion" but money talks.............. I guess we will have to wait and see.

dont know about the A319 performance but when you get a sharp pencil out for the A320 - at light weights you can get the landing distance req down to 1000 mtrs

Hi again all,

Yes that was my old A319CJ. Biggin is absolutely no problem at all (we could depart at MTOW if needed and blast off across the pond) - City is a problem. The runway is plenty long enough but the slope is not possible within certification criteria. Airbus are working on certifying the A318 at City at the moment but I believe that this needs some flap-tweaking.

Hi Barcli - the YellowBird is being repainted (even yellower) at the moment but we should be up and running again shortly.

at light weights you can get the landing distance req down to 1000 mtrs

As you know; you can land anywhere once!

cheers all

Thats not strictly true about that PA28 with the dinked prop. The guys was taxying behind another aircraft, it was just lucky the first aircraft missed the hole. Worst thing is a few days before the incident i had just finished running in new pistons on that aircraft! I hear the hole that it went in to was pretty deep.

One of the most beautiful settings for an aviator in Greece. Private airfield with a land site that includes private marina, vila's and the landing strip. Unfortunatelly the land value in the area has increased a lot; at the same time the owner sold his plane to buy a helicopter hence he decided to close the airfield to fixed wing visitors. :-(

Apologies BRL,

Initial size was to permit optifying local South Lanarkshire features.

On the matter of re-size, haven't checked this out yet, but I'm told that - seemingly - one of the commercially available UK airfield guides lists the 530metre Strathaven main landing ground as 730metres.

Out of interest, why can't one post pictures on this site directly? One can do it on all the other off the shelf "www-BBS" implementations.

One could even limit picture upload rights to people who have paid up :)

The server upload function would trim the pics to say 640x480. That would reduce a good quality jpeg to under 100k.

This is standard practice - look at Ebay for example.

Passengers on a small commuter plane are waiting for the flight to leave. They're getting a little impatient, but the airport staff has assured them that the pilots will be there soon, and the flight can take off immediately after that. The entrance opens, and two men walk up the aisle, dressed in pilots' uniforms-both are wearing dark glasses, one is using a seeing-eye dog, and the other is tapping his way up the aisle with a cane. Nervous laughter spreads through the cabin; but the men enter the cockpit, the door closes, and the engines start up. The passengers begin glancing nervously around, searching for some sign that this is just a little practical joke. None is forthcoming.

The plane moves faster and faster down the runway, and people at the windows realize that they're headed straight for the water at the edge of the airport territory. As it begins to look as though the plane will never take off, that it will plough into the water, panicked screams fill the cabin-but at that moment, the plane lifts smoothly into the air.

The passengers relax and laugh a little sheepishly, and soon they have all retreated into their magazines, secure in the knowledge that the plane is in good hands.

Up in the cockpit, the co-pilot turns to the pilot and says, "You know, Bob, one of these days, they're going to scream too late, and we're all gonna die."

Athens Venizelos LGAV runway 03L !

Landed there end of August returning from Istanbul LTFJ and paid the 239 Euros for a day's parking & handling fees  (since we arrived night IFR and day VFR only Megara LGMG GA field closes at 1900L :uhoh: )

It was interesting taxying at night from the westerly rwy all the way to the GA parking at NE side in a "little" GA aircraft in midst of all the commercial traffic via the wide (for a GA pilot) taxiways.

Athens Venizelos it was, first time i've ever done an approach with another aircraft landing along side me, worth the trip just for that!

Some great photos. the 'Airship hangars' one looks to me like Cardington near Bedford. Unless you have a long lens, I would guess that you were either:

Below 6000ft and thus inside the D206 danger area which is active H24, or:

Inside the the airway N57 base FL55..

Any comment?

Eyeinthesky (you aren't Police40 are you?) I can understand your concern but I wasn't flying, I was sitting in the back minding my own business and taking photos. From what I remember however, we were at about 2,000' on the 100deg radial from DTY which passes outside the Danger Area.
Thanks for the compliment on the photos, I'm delighted with the camera which is an Olympus C300 Zoom and seems to give me some brilliant photos like this sunset at Halfpenny Green:
