A couple of bold letters in the latest edition of the RAF news, the article regarding the airhead into Iraq was quite revealing for the unintiated. To here the AOC talking of a fragile airhead and the possibilty of the situation getting worse is not heartening. They do talk about the transformation when the MRTT comes in, but when is that likely to be.

Has the Basrah airhead moved yet?

They were planning on giving the whole terminal back to the Iraqis when I was out there last year but the alternative they were building didn't look too good.

Beags

do you know anything about this?

Don't think you will see the 310s doing air-to-air refueling anytime soon. Apparently the one that has been converted already is sitting on the ramp in Trenton doing nothing. The installation of the refuelling drogues causes aileron flutter apparently!

Only that it's bolleaux!

The CF has 2 CC150T Polaris aircraft; my understanding is that they have been flying in the passenger/freighter role pending the next stage of modification, which is the installation of the Mission Computer Subsystem.

Overw8man, ve did not das 'After Tanking' checklist forget - hier war ein Photo-opportunity! Ein Mate in der ATC-Turm hat die Photographie gesnappt!

Very nice trip in an outstandingly capable tanker - and my thanks to the excellent team involved for the opportunity.

At least one of whom reads PPRuNE, nicht wahr.... ;) ?
