THE CONTRACTOR

Here we go. I do not know whether or not this is gonna work but here goes. I have been to some pretty remote places to live so far in my career. Been paid quite a lot less than the locals. The grocery shopping bill has hit well over $200 bucks a fortnight (and back when I was a batchelor). For instance, I have paid $7.25 for a 2litre bottle of red cordial. So I came up with some pretty cheap alternatives to cooking, perhaps already in cookbooks.

Back to the thread, I thought we could all pool together some tasty recipes for all living on the GA poverty line.

I'll start with: el crab and beer.

1. Get to know the locals.
2. Get invited to a crabbing expedition.
3. Catch some crabs(the claw type) FREE
4. By beer 2 bottles $4.80
5. Boil crabs until nearly cooked.
6. Remove water from pan and replace with enough beer just to cover the crab.
7. Further steam crab until cooked with beer.
8. Let crab cool and eat.
9. Drink left over beer.

This meal is only available to those who have the occasional day off and live near some good crabbing water.

Start spreading the recipes folks, a bloke could starve!

eek! The boiling point of alcohol is less than the boiling point of water. Won't you turn your left over beer into dirty water?

The other problem is living near water of course...not all of us had that luxury whilst in GA!

The only crabs I caught in the Kimberley were courtesy of a backpacker! Haha!
