Hello,

Bit of a story behind this question, but I'll cut to the chase first and then if you're interested, please read the story.

THE QUESTION: Does anyone have any pictures of the airfield being built, or in use during the 2nd World War? I'd be very grateful to receive them. Thanks.

THE STORY: My father was unfit for national service, but helped build and maintain the airfield (+others in the area). He has kept us amused for years with tales, which increase in their richness with each telling. Last week whilst in Suffolk, I paid the place a visit as a bit of a homage, and to my surprise I found the Control Tower, and some of the buildings being restored.

Loads of shots, both current and 44-45 ish.

Just google with Debach and specify images, ditto with altavista

Especially the "Control Towers" site.

IIRC, the Airfields of the Eighth mentioned earlier is published by After the Battle Publications, not Janes.
