Aer Lingus today announced six new routes to Europe.

From March, flights will leave Dublin for Poznan in Poland, Palma in Majorca and Rennes in France.

And, starting in June the airline will fly three new routes to Berlin, Birmingham and Tenerife from Cork.

This investment in Cork will result in 300,000 more seats into and out of Cork annually.

Aerlingus announce a route expansion as I predicted two weeks ago.

There is room for two more based aircraft at ORK next summer although some of the late night charter flights might have to switch to times when parking stands are available.

Latest Rumour is that Ryanair will base a 2nd plane there in the near future.

The other question is whether the Easyjet deal which almost happened last year can be resurrected.

These are very much the big 3 as far as Cork is concerned if it is to break the 3 million barrier in 2006.

WW and RE appear to be on a downward slope.
