View Full Version : Girls night out
sixmilehighclub 21st Dec 2005, 19:18 Following a few recent suggestions, who's up for night on the town next year??
Thinking possibly London (easy to get to) or Birmingham (as it's central) may be the best place to let our hair down.
Any ideas or suggestions??
Six
:ok:
Whirlygig 21st Dec 2005, 19:37 Brum would be better for me than London. I'm just a simple, web-toed flatlander and don't understand the big, dark, dirty city!
Besides the A14 goes nearly all the way to Birmingham!!
However, I don't know Birmingham well so don't know of anywhere specific to meet. Mind you, I don't know London at all!
I think a post-Christmas-blues-type, late-Jan/early-Feb date might be a runner.
Cheers

Now - how do we keep it secret from the boys!
sixmilehighclub 21st Dec 2005, 19:40 Boys please ignore this post, we're starting a knitting circle really. Now move along, nothing to see here.....
(actually, late jan, early feb fits in with my birthday!!) and I know some places in Brum!
timmcat 21st Dec 2005, 21:03 ..can I come... please?
loubylou 21st Dec 2005, 23:49 subject to days off - brum would be easier for me, though manch even easier!!
i know nothing about knitting!
louby
Whirlygig 22nd Dec 2005, 06:27 That's OK Louby, we cater for beginners too!

AerBabe 23rd Dec 2005, 17:05 Flaps - Actually, yes, would love to.
It looks like our trip to HKG for my birthday could be off (long story), so we're looking for an alternative destination. ;)
Wholigan 24th Dec 2005, 05:30 I could wear a skirt and wax me legs!
DX Wombat 24th Dec 2005, 09:24 Wholi!I could wear a skirt and wax me legs!
The mind boggles!
Hmm Wholi
Seem to remember your making this offer before - at a bash for the purpose of raising some £££ for the PPRune Fund..........
What do you think Ladies???:ooh:
ComJam 24th Dec 2005, 14:48 I own a boys skirt, several Pruners have seen up it :D
Does that mean i can tag along?? ;)
ShyTorque 24th Dec 2005, 17:31 Sexist threads like this shouldn't be allowed! :*
P.S. Can I come along? I'll serve the drinks. :O
Whirlygig 24th Dec 2005, 21:14 This seems to be turning into a Boys' Night out!! OK, so we have a potential transsexual, two men in skirts (one with shaved legs) and one who wants to ply us with drinks all night! Hmmmm.... shall we think about it girls?
Cheers
Whirls
ComJam 26th Dec 2005, 16:13 Just to clarify....it's a kilt! :D
And i promise to wear it if i'm invited ;)

Cheers
Whirls
sixmilehighclub 27th Dec 2005, 20:25 OK. We need some rules...
1. You must be a member of PPRUNE
2. You must be older than 18
3. You must be dressed as a woman, or wearing at least one visible item of womens clothing to attend.
Any objections from the girls??
Whirlygig 27th Dec 2005, 20:46 ....and/or make-up?
Problem is - should we define "kilts" as being women's clothing? There is, at least, one Ppruner who will wear a kilt (and I can think of another who may). So - I think we should state, here and now, categorically, that kilts is boys' attire and therefore will not be allowed under Rule 3.
Cheers
Whirls
loubylou 28th Dec 2005, 10:05 bum - can't make the 28th of jan, nor can comjam -i can do the following weekend though
can't wait to see the boys in skirts
louby
timmcat 28th Dec 2005, 14:59 Temps, shuddup.
Will my orange trainers count as girlie attire? (everyone keeps telling me I look a wuss in them).
ShyTorque 29th Dec 2005, 22:42 Come on girls - you're keeping us in suspenders.............. ;)
Whirlygig 29th Dec 2005, 22:47 Are we indeed Shy? Why? What on earth is it you could be waiting for? Date, time, place so you can all gate-crash?
Or did you just feel the need to tell us what your lady-friend prefers you to wear?
Cheers

Whirlybird 30th Dec 2005, 08:51 Oooo, a night out in Brum! I knew there must be a good reason for my moving to the Peak District on Jan 10th; it's a lot nearer to Birmingham than it would be from North Wales. If I've sorted enough boxes to find something to wear and a map, and if the cats aren't so stressed out that I daren't leave them, I'll be there. :ok:
Whirlygig 30th Dec 2005, 09:07 Whirly,
I've just done the moving thing and the first two excuses are rubbish! Wear what you want and buy a map! However, I do hope mogs are settled in; the butter on the paws did work for two of mine. Or you could try condensed milk on the paws - that's entertaining as well!!
There's two girls (and I am NOT including ComJam in that figure) who can't make either 28 Jan/4th Feb so how about 11th? Anyonw know of a good venue in Birmingham (or thereabouts) with accommodation at or nearby?
Cheers
Whirls
cyclicmicky 30th Dec 2005, 13:50 Ladies!!..may I suggest you have a mooch around Brindley Place, there are lots of good bars and restaurants, its close to Broad St where there are more of the same...and a good place to finish up is Chung Ying in Chinatown. Have a nice evening:ok:
Oh I forgot..Symphony Hall is close by as well if you fancy a show.:ok: :ok:
timmcat 30th Dec 2005, 16:26 Depending on what you are looking for, is this (http://www.devereonline.co.uk/jdevere.htm?hotel_belfry/index.htm) place any good? Got spa's, gym, nightclub and other stuff for girlies.
Close to BHX and the motorway network. I stopped there a month or so ago, not bad, but the rooms are a bit Travelodgy, nothing much more.
Helli-Gurl 30th Dec 2005, 18:16 So when is this big night out?
All this talk of men in skirts has got me worried incase the ex shows up!
Will Mr Fraser be gate crashing in his kilt?
xx
B Fraser 30th Dec 2005, 19:59 What are the chances of leaving with my dignity intact
Helli-Gurl 30th Dec 2005, 20:22 or ur virginity !!
;)
youcan only come if you wear ya tartan skirt and is it tru all you scots wear nothing underneath?
xx
B Fraser 30th Dec 2005, 22:12 You are 24 years too late for that my dear, I had mine done on the NHS, she was a nurse :ok:
The commando rumours.... well I'll leave that question unanswered for the time being. It all depends on whether I get an official invite.
Whirlygig 31st Dec 2005, 00:35 24 years ago? You old dog you! I thought you were younger'n me!
So, counting on fingers and toes, thats makes you .... oh OK then maybe?
Sparkle is obviously invited. Not sure about you though B!
Cheers

Send Clowns 1st Jan 2006, 20:47 So beyond the banter, what is the state of play? Does everyone have to wear women's attire? I have never done so myself, but as a former commissioned officer in the British military I am comfortable with the idea, and certainly it's a small price to pay for an evening in company of the two delightful Whirlies and to meet some new PPRuNemongers. With a brother amongst Birmingham's finest I can probably avoid arrest even in dodgy attire. Are we fixing on the 28th for the date?
As for dignity and other things remaining intact, I lost them both long ago (dignity first, as always for a man) so am not too concerned.
sixmilehighclub 1st Jan 2006, 23:31 Hello Ladies (and guys in disguise!)
Right. It's looking like Birmingham, 4th Feb. (following weekend may clash with Valentines weekend for hotels and just incase I get hundreds of offers for dates that weekend....!) :\ :(
Suggestion is staying on Broad Street, meeting in the Travelodge (Reception area but no bar (so bring your own minibar!!). Plenty of eateries and drinking holes within crawling distance.
Now then, for the boys. I think its fair to ask the men to 'apply' (beg) on this thread for an invite, and a carefully selected panel of girlies will decide your fate. :E You will also be nominated an item of clothing you must wear. Or forfeit the clothes and buy 2 rounds. I think thats justified. :E :ok:
PS http://www.virtualbrum.co.uk/broadst.htm
Whirlygig 1st Jan 2006, 23:38 Sixmile,
when you say "forfeit the clothes", do you mean they forfeit the nominated item or forfeit clothes altogether? Just to clarify!
Anyway, I'll be there!
Cheers
Whirls
sixmilehighclub 1st Jan 2006, 23:42 do you mean they forfeit the nominated item or forfeit clothes altogether?
Shhh! Let's see who applies first!! ;)
Send Clowns 2nd Jan 2006, 00:06 Well I'll be the first to apply (new job permiting - I cannot guarantee yet that I can make it) and no need to worry on that one sixmile - my close friends would tell you that after a few beers I can easily be persuaded out of my clothes for any decent prank going (and there is embarrassing photographic evidence to prove it, but that's a long story). At that stage of the evening even the fountain in central Brum will look inviting for skinny dipping - can't be much worse than Helston boating lake!
I trust my darling friend Whirligig to stand up for me in choosing the item to be worn - and lending me something if the charity shops are insufficiently tasteful/less :}
Also hope she will stop me getting my kit off if I do get drunk, as close friends is one thing but photos on PPRuNe could be seriously worrying :ooh: and with my brother's job my family would quickly get to hear of my arrest
Oh dear .......... would love to be there but a close friend's long-planned 50th birthday party means that I am otherwise engaged that night. :{ :{
sixmilehighclub 2nd Jan 2006, 12:46 Tart1
Poor excuse!! Your friend will be 50 for a whole year! This is a one-off not to be missed evening with a selection of pprunes finest young ladies. ;)
Not to worry, there'll be another one soon....
timmcat 2nd Jan 2006, 16:16 with a selection of pprunes finest young ladies.
So, due to the above restriction it's obviously going to be a very poor turnout therefore I'm sorry I will not be attending. :(
Well, I'm sulking because I wanted to go. :* :* :(
tall and tasty 2nd Jan 2006, 21:56 Oh no I wish I had followed this thread from the begginning. Whirls just told me about it!!
The 4th Feb is no good for me :( , I have booked a Birthday party for my little one on that day and there is no way it can be changed the invited etc have gone out!
Oh well I hope all of you girls have a lovely time and those who are in skirts with or without shaved legs have a ball too!!
Let me know all about it with loads of photos pleeeeeeeeeeease :E
TnT
Ps I can't even get out of this one, no good having a 6th Birthday party and mum is not there! I would never never live that one down!!!

Rick Storm 7th Jan 2006, 19:12 Is this bash on or what????????? I'm a 53 year old (single) BA pilot, don't get much chance anymore of meeting 'agreeable' young ladies. I'm game :E
captain cumulonimbus 8th Jan 2006, 09:21 Oh come on ladies, organize a PPRUNE girls' trip to CT...the Captain will entertain you nicely;) :E
Go on...please:rolleyes:
OzExpat 8th Jan 2006, 10:06 This is all just sooooooo sad :{
I think that the blokes should let the girlies have their bash by themselves.
Then we can have one of our own and refuse entry to them! :E
Let battle commence... :p
captain cumulonimbus 8th Jan 2006, 10:09 Speak for yerself mate! Without a few sheilas its no fun...unless.....
Baaaaaaaaaa!;)
OzExpat 9th Jan 2006, 07:31 You should never judge others by your own preferences cc! ;) :D
I was actually thinking - and now realise that I should've added it - that the sheilas might actually prefer to be hit-on by non-Proon blokes at a bash of their own. And, as we all know, us blokes enjoy a bit of variety at a party too! :E
Is this bash on or what????????? I'm a 53 year old (single) BA pilot, don't get much chance anymore of meeting 'agreeable' young ladies. I'm game :E
Are you trying to sound desperate??.....
Whirlygig 9th Jan 2006, 15:04 No, he does it with consummate ease! :E ;)
