View Full Version : Word 2002 basic problem

I've recently installed Word 2002 (it was the version that came with Works 2004... go figure!)
For the life of me, I can't make it copy-and-paste between documents. Within a document, no problem. But if I try to copy text to another document, the "Paste" option seems to be disabled.
Microsoft "Help" is no such thing, and none of my puter-savvy friends knows the answer; maybe it's too simple for them.

It's driving me insane. Can anyone help?

Thanks for those. I've followed the instructions faithfully. It's odd; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the Paste facility stays stubbornly disabled. Worst is trying to paste into a new document, when it seems to be sheer luck whether it will let me do it or not.
I write for a living, so this is a major headache. Why do Microsoft et al have to tinker with every last element of their programmes and always end up changing them (pointlessly!) just when we drones have got used to the previous version??

Sometimes when this happens you can get round it using the keyboard - the item is actually copying but the 'paste' icon is greyed out out. Try using CTRL+V for paste (similarly CTRL+C works for copy)

Thanks BN. Again, that sometimes works. More often than not, which is a pleasant surprise.
One thing it will not let me do under any circs is copy-and-paste from the net. Never had any prob doing that with my old computer, but the new one seems to have banned it totally.
