Very Sad news. Same type operated by Paspaley in the N.T. From the video looks like #2 Engine fire with an explosion, then subsequently losing the right wing.

I wonder if they have called for Grounding of all types for investigation allready?

Unfortunately yes, HERE (http://www.theage.com.au/news/World/Miami-seaplane-crashes-20-dead/2005/12/20/1134840820031.html)

Sandy Rodriguez, 14, said he saw the plane flying low with white smoke trailing from it and flames coming from the bottom. The right wing then fell off as the plane went down, he said.

Film on the late news was gruesome, they were concentrating on the burning bits, in slomo you see the bit with the people in it hit.

terrible footage... I thought separation of wing too, from the description my mother gave me of the footage before i saw it....

wrt Pearl... the white amphibian/seaplane in and out of Perth quite often - is that the same or another type of a/c?? Just wondering for comparison's sake...

From the news item it looks as though the water at the impact site was fairly shallow as water goes, I'm guessing at this point the speed of hitting is what would have done it... though on an early report it was said there had been survivors... later one said none.So which is true? (Sorry can't open those links for some reason....)
