I notice that at 2:28 this afternoon - Cathay requested a trading suspension on the HK Stock Exchange. This is apparently pending a Company Announcement.

Is this the long awaited acquisition of Dragonair?

it is all supposed to happen in January so the timing is spot on.................................................

No it is just following the purchase agreement for the new triples.
A listing rule technicality.

Fly747 I don't confess to knowing much about the rules of the HK stock exchange... but why suspend traiding today, when the 777 order was almost 2 weeks ago?

Edit

Here is what was on the HKex website.....

At the request of Cathay Pacific Airways Limited (the "Company"),
trading in its shares has been suspended with effect from 2:30pm today (14/12/2005) pending release of an announcement relating to a major transaction of the Company involving acquisition of aircraft as already announced on 1 December 2005.

I think it is just because they actually signed for them today. It is a lot of money after all!
