Sadly, not a return of this excellent prog. :{ however, on Thursday evening at 2200, there is a 1/2 hour show devoted to probably the best satirical programme to grace the screens in the UK. Quite how you can compress "xx" years into 30mins ( including adverts ! ) is a bit beyond me though--my only hope is the producer has the sense to let the clips do the talking and not some overpaid airhead as per usual. One to watch I feel. :ok:

Last weeks TV guide said it was on last week and I ended up videoing Tommy Cooper. I have no need of a video recording of jokes as old as the hills.
This weeks guide says Tommy Cooper is on, so I guess it must be Spitting Image.
At 95p a go, you'd think the TV guide producers want to keep my custom by producing a decent publication.
I'll be changing to another.
Thanks for the info, Krystal. :ok:
Spitting Image was a "must see" for me......brilliant programme!
Regrettable that the likes of Blair, Brown, Parker-Bowles.....jees there's dozens.....can't be given a dose of the Spitting Image "treatment" these days! :E

I fondly remember the Mr and Mrs Major domestic scene where John is sitting at the dinner table trying to contain his excitement at eating peas again. Little did we know he was actually eating Curry at the time :yuk:

Oh I like so many wish it could grace our screens again. I learnt the important names in the cabinet from that show only because at the time being a teenager I was far too busy with things teenagers do at 18 then learn politics and the whoes who list of the celebs.
Have to watch it just for the memories and the brill portrayal of the Royals!
John Major and Ronnie Regan were two of my fav characters and the queen mum with Di

Sadly, that sort of humour is only tolerated by the Left when it targets the Right wing.
The Left is completely devoid of all humour and the various Leftists and fellow travellers in the media and the BBC (until recently) have scuppered anything that could be construed as critical of Bliar and Labour.
Spitting Image departed our screens soon after Labour won the 1997 General Election
An excellent programme on radio used to be the Radio 4 programme 'Week Ending', a satircal look at politics of the preceeding week, which was broadcast on Friday evenings.
Loudy proclaimed, it was taken off by the BBC immediately Labour won the 1997 General Election.....
One wonders why ? :E :E :E :E :E

Acbus - in all fairness they did advise that it was a change to the advertised prog. Not much help if you're not at home.
Same thing happened with Top Gear last night. Guest was to be Alan Titchmarsh, instead Nigel Mansell turned up

Astrodome - sorry to interrupt your Labour bashing session but Spitting Image finished in 1992, a few years before Labour came to power.
Oh and BTW, Week Ending finished in 1998, basically because it had become crap! :hmm:

You're wrong in thinking that Leftists are devoid of all humour Astro. Whilst I wouldn't term myself a 'Leftist' you probably would call me such, and I roll about laughing at many of your postings! Some of the most tenuous things you try and pin on Labour are comical! :ok:

One of the funniest programmes to come out of the 80s.
I loved the sketch where the Cabinet are all sitting at a large table for a meal. The waiter (who is serving Maggie with the main course) asks 'what about the vegetables' and she replies 'they will have the same as me'
Tremendous stuff :ok:
