"A military aircraft has crashed in a residential area in a southern district of the Iranian capital Tehran.
Reports on Iranian state television said the plane was a C-130 transport plane which was carrying scores of passengers and crew.

"There were between 74 and 90 people on board," a civil aviation official said, the AFP news agency has reported.

The crash was in the Yaftabad district which is close to Tehran's Mehrabad airport which handles domestic flights.

The plane reportedly crashed while trying to make an emergency landing at the airport."
