Unmanned..... I don't know whether it still happens but BA aircraft which were sometimes given no delay by ATC would ask to hold for 10-15 minutes because they were too early!!!!

Basically, BA didn't have the staff to man the stands. The culprit was BA, nobody else. I hope some BA crews will come on here and confirm this. The AIRLINE caused it, NOT ATC, NOT the airport authority and NOT the whole Heathrow operation but the AIRLINE. And that, my friend is a fact.

So then HD, has BA driven the infrastructure past the saturation point?

We are just spinning our wheels here by writing about problems.

England turned the world on it's ear by introducing the Industrial Revolution. England deserves a world class airport, whether it be offshore or on land.

HD,

Nothing to do with the fact that LHR does not actually have enough stands for the amount of aircraft using the place then ?.

Ground holding for 30mins+ is just the norm at LHR - just look at the poor SAA flights that end up stuck out on the airfield every morning because there are not enough stands.
