Several people I know received an email from the operator today advising it would be in EMA next week if they fancied a look round.

UPSAirOps
23rd Nov 2005, 18:23
Wondered how long it'd be before this one got out. As far as I knew it wasn't 100% confirmed when I was told though - although this was last week. Is it now confirmed?

Rgds..

AlphaWhiskyRomeo

I reckon.

No idea where she's off to though.

Pakistan maybe?

EMA hasn't got the longest runway that she's ever used, has it.

Ok, so for those who don't know abreviations, where on earth is egnx, ema, lba, man etc etc etc........

I am sick of reading these posts by spotters trying to be 'hip', can you not just say Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton or wherever it is you are on about so those abroad or not quite as savvy as you lot know what you are bloody on about..

We'd take that comment more seriously if you'd called yourself Kalundborg! :ok:

EKKL... This is the PROFESSIONAL pilots.... network, and there's no need for bad language thank you.. It figures that the people on here are, somehow, mixed up with the aviation industry. WE all understand - it's you outsiders who don't. Oh yes, as well as being an avid spotter I spent nigh on 40 years in the aviation industry and the only "hip" I know about is the one that pains me when I'm on the running machine...

EKKL
23rd Nov 2005, 20:59
Sorry HD, it just annoys me when I don't know where the airport is when mentioned in a post. Why can't people just type the name of the airport!

FYI, I am a professional photographer with a lapsed PPL from a few years back. :(

Harrier46
23rd Nov 2005, 21:19
Hope it's confirmed as I got my invite today and will be paying a visit to EMA (or maybe I should say East Midlands).

WE all understand - it's you outsiders who don't

That's not even said tongue-in-cheek is it? "Outsiders" for Gods sake? This isn't some farmers market.

Like EKKL I often don't understand either. There are thousands of codes - it'd make life a lot easier if the places were spelt out. Perhaps an encyclopaedic knowledge of airport abbreviations should be de rigeur for professional pilots eh?

VP8
23rd Nov 2005, 22:48
There are plenty of websites from a google search that will tell you what the decodes are!!!!

Aparrently it is loaded inbound only

not sure what the opening times for the aeropark are-you would certainly see it from there, or else the road from the nags head pub in donington on the north side
(sure CJ wouldn't have minded!)

I liked it because it p....d off the Red Arrows at Farnborough that year.
It displayed just before the Reds, and as it vacated the runway (they were lined up waiting to go) there was a visible mass movement of spectators towards the exits! Very few stayed to watch the Reds. Great!

Additionally, HDA530 which was a B747 diverted in from Manchester earlier & I presume the Gemini MD11 is still tech on the West Apron?

Would make a nice sight to see a few heavies on the deck at the same time!

Primark said on Radio 5 Live last week, that they were chartering planes to bring in stock, so thats the one. Not exectly a very efficient way of moving the stock, but a lot better than having empty shelves for Christmas

Popped up there today for a look - most impressive. I'm not one to be easily awe-struck but it was definately an imposing site! Inside it didn't seem too much bigger than the AN124 but outside was a completely different story.

The fire engines were still there when I visited earlier, any reason behind this, do they have to be there permanently?

Quite a lot of activity around with people ferrying in and out. Also, a little OT, there was a BA757 (I believe) doing engine tests down there...

AlphaWhiskyRomeo

The airline have invited people to wander round the the aircraft today and tomorrow I believe.

And someone told me there was a press call tomorrow morning before loaidng commences early pm for the Sat departure.
