USAF (?) Globemaster at EGBB

Were my eyes deceiving me or did I see a USAF Globemaster parked on the cargo ramp at EGBB this morning?

Anyone got the story?

wasn't an USAF example, one of the RAF examples (ZZ173 was the serial on the flightplan)

RAF C17s are quite regular (usually during the hours of darkness) into Brum bring wounded soldiers back from Afghanistan or Iraq. I believe one of the Hospitals in Brum (Selly Oak?) deals with any MOD patients

For several years, AW&ST used to refer to a "McDonnell-Douglas DC-3". They finally recognized that McDonnell had nothing to do with the design or manufacture of the Gooney Bird.

Boeing bought the Douglas factory (and inherited Harry Stonecipher and the C-17), but it had (has) precious little to do with the bird.
