I wonder if anyone is able to identify a high-winged Antonov type aircraft heading East just north abeam our position - probably between DTY and SIDVA. He was working 130.92 and was cleared direct SIDVA to FL220 and handed over to 133.45

All this at around 13:10 -13:20z

Callsign seemed to end in '889' or similar - but the background noise on his TX was so loud it was tricky to decipher.

Any ideas ?

Thanks - it was indeed a 72 , was anxious about stating that because it seemed so unlikely !

Hell of a din coming over his TX though - more than the usual whine some avionics kit gives off.

Is this typical AN72s? engine noise? poor DC regulation into the radio kit? RFI from the flightdeck?
