This might not seem such a big deal to the techies on this forum but, for me it is a success story.
Some time ago while testing some doubtful software (stupid boy) I managed to completely corrupt my OS (Windows ME). Guess what? No original disk! Apart from being extremely annoying it gave me an excuse to upgrade to a sparkly new comp with XP and all the whistles. But how to get my data files back? I installed Linux (Simply Mepis, cracking distro) on the old PC and after some serious headaches, managed to network the two together. Result - all my data, old emails etc ported across.
Next step is to get the Linux machine talking to the interweb. Then I shall free myself from Mr Gates!
Like I said, I feel good.
