Hi

Is there anything like the US Sport license or the UK NPPL downunda?

Someone I know will be having an extended visit and does not want to go the full PPL route.

No there isn't with the exception of a Recreational Aviation Australia pilot "cerficate" which will allow you to fly up to 544kg's. Previous hours count towards your "certificate."
