A question to someone that may know ?.

The Cresco's Flight Manual lists 2 pilots and 10 Parachutist as an approved configuration, yet on the PAC web site ( http://www.aerospace.co.nz/ouraircraft/cresco/multirole.htm#Parachuting ),
the following is detailed:

Parachuting

13 jumpers (1 pilot, 12 jumpers),
14000 feet [4267 m] capability,
12 minutes to altitude,
Large entrance/exit door,
Safe jump platform,
STOL descent,
Quick loading capability.

For info:
AEW 1338 kg
Front Tanks only 190 kg
MTOW/MLW 2925 kg
Effective load ( including Pilot ) 1397 kg or there abouts.

Fat Pilot, with 4 litres of Coke, a pie and Sausage roll ( so he/ she survives the trip to FL140 ) 120 kg
Still leaves 1277 kg.

So why the difference between the Flight Manual and PAC web site ????, which one is correct ?

At one stage there was a Cresco conducting ops at Cessnock and I can remember some of his "canopies" calls being at least 11 or 12. I'd be airborne passing 3,000' with my load of 6 jumpers, he'd call airborne on climb to 14,000'. He'd be back on the ground, hot load and call airborne again by the time I was back into the cct from the 10K jump run.

That was about 4-5 years ago now.

I've seen a Cresco take 14 mins from airborne Cairns 15 to touchdown again 15. This included down to Edmonton to push em out at F140, a level out at A080 for 3 mins - gathering engine data I believe - and right base half a mile abeam the threshold at 4000ft. Pretty impressive effort. I don't recall how many jumpers there were and it was first thing in the morning, so a bit of cool air to aid with density height.

Specialised loading approvals are sometimes given for PJE aircraft. ie many PJE 182s in OZ have approval to operate with 5 jumpers and pilot providing the jumpers are litewait & MTOW all cool etc. Maybe (and I stress the maybe) the 2 drivers / 10 jumpers combination is what is given as an 'out of the box' configuration, while in reality it can haul more and be within MTOW. As the sales website is designed to do exactly that (sell the A/C), they naturally quote the max payload and then if you wish to take 12 or 13 or whatever, you can apply to CASA and they'll give you an approval along with a pictorial layout of how to seat the sardines etc etc.

Both are probably correct but then again, PAC would be the best one's to tell you.....

The little one seats 10 jumpers and the XL takes 17. I think they have weight to spare but no room inside so they take extra loads of fuel if they are going to run hot. The second pilots seat can't be used for jumpers as they can't get to the back door. Fastest jump ship around (the baby one) pitty they're made in NZ!

Why is it a pitty there made in NZ?

there's nothing like turning base at 6000' agl in a 750, the screen full of green, beating the jumpers down :)

Try doing a W&B using moments and arms along the length of the aircraft (you will need a measuring tape).

Bet you can't make 12 parachutists fit within the C of G envelope.

A Cresco and the PAC 750 are two different machines.

Bushy,

Go to : http://www.aerospace.co.nz/ouraircraft/cresco/specs.htm

You will see it is the Cresco Specs, go down to "Parachuting" and you will see: "13 jumpers (1 pilot, 12 jumpers), ".

Which is different to the Flight Manual, "10 parachutes".

So the question is still un-answered, Why the difference ?, which is correct ?.

You may be thinking of the "XL", that is a different machine, see: http://www.aerospace.co.nz/ouraircraft/750xl/750xlspec.htm

Both has the PT6A-34 engine 750 HP.

Choco, then if that was the case, it is false advertising if it is sold / certified for less, Right ?.

Was going to be facetious but it's actually not a silly question perhaps?

12 jumpers can have 10 parachutes if two of them are on tandem jumps (or two don't bother......).

UTR,
I am pretty sure it actually is "chutists", there is still a discrepancy, of which i have emailed PAC, so far no response.
