Hope someone can help me with this. I have just purchased an Apple iMac and am trying to download Windows Media Player. The file that actually downloads from the Microsoft site is "Windows Media.sitx". The question is, what do I do with it?? It isn't an executable and it won't open.

aiglon.....

Maybe some help/? From here (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/mediaadvice/0073.aspx) (quote):

"Why do I get the message, "Windows Media.sitx does not appear to be compressed or encoded" when I try to install Windows Media Player 9 for MAC OS X? You need a more recent version of StuffIt Expander, which decompresses the file. For more information, see the Windows Media Player 9 for MAC OS X Web page <http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=50466>."

When you downloaded the file did you use the option "save to disc" If so you will need to open the file with the version of Stufflt expander that came with your OS.

Stufflt normally located in the utilities folder which is a sub folder of the Applications folder.

Welcome to MAC users :ok:

Thanks for the responses guys. I have now downloaded Stuffit and installed Windows media Player :ok:

Stuffit was not pre installed - a pity the Media player download site didn't say that I would need it

1 week in and I am already wondering why I stuck with Windows for so long!
