Hi All,

With regard to MEIR rating from an employment perspective is it better to combine the MEIR ie. do the IR on a multi engine or as an alternative seperate the ratings, add the multi engine rating first and then do the IR on a single engle, which I believe would be the cheaper option.
Any advice on which option to take/what do employers prefer to see on the CV would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Think you have the wrong end of the stick here old chap! If you do an IR on a single engine aircraft, then you can only fly IR on single engines. All employers require a Multi Engine IR, which has to be completed on a multi engined aircraft. You can convert a single engine IR to a multi engined IR, but at cost.

Gus is correct. The multi-engine IR is a different rating to the single-engine IR (although if you have a multi-engine IR, you can use the IR on a single-engined aircraft).

I wonder if you are getting confused with the CPL? It is possible to combine the CPL with the multi-engine rating, and come out with exactly the same qualifications as if you'd done a single-engine CPL, and a separate multi-engine rating.... but you can not do this with the IR.
