I would like to request TAF's and METAR's by fax from Weatherdial FAX here in Ireland. The theory is simple; you dial a number from a fax machine with integrated handset and listen to a recorded message presenting you with options for the type of information you wish to receive. You then press the buttons for the selection you wish to make and press the START button on the fax machine... the fax(s) are then delivered to you. Simple huh?

Not if you don't have a fax machine!

My PC has a fax/MODEM with Classic Phone Tools software (it's a Dell) and I perhaps mistakenly believed that this would do the job. I can dial the fax service and hear the recorded message, but the software is in "phone" mode so I have no fax START button to press. If I start the software in "fax" mode I cannot dial the number without also providing a file to send and also cannot then hear the recorded message.

Classic Phone Tools' documentation explains how to set up Fax On Demand from the point of view of PROVIDING fax documents, but says nothing of how to request a fax from a provider.

I would be very grateful if somebody could come up with a solution... other than buying a fax machine with a handset!

Many thanks

Try Here (http://www.ippc.no/index.html) as you have your laptop connected to the internet. You can get TAFs, METARs and NOTAMs.
