Anyone able to shed any light on what was going on around the Swiss A319 at Dublin yesterday? It was surrounded by a large fleet of emergency vehicles including the police and fire command units before finally leaving about 4 hours late.

DearCS99,
It will take you a little bit more than four words to convince anyone here that a fleet of rescue vehicles that remained for four hours on the spot was needed to tackle a packing problem... Are you trying to bull**** us to cover your ass? :8

If the problem was to do with a packing problem involving dangerous goods (flammables, biohazard, toxic, etc.), then that is a plausible reason for all the attention by the emergency services.

Better to be safe than have the captain announcing,

"Good morning ladies and gentlemen; a container carrying sulphuric acid has burst in the hold, but we're going to fly anyway, as we don't want our balls chewed for delaying a flight."
