I am just about to start another term at uni, this year am out of halls, and for the next 9 months need ADSL really, however, I havn't been able to find a company that will provide anything for less than a 12 month contract.... does anyone happen to know of one that will do a lesser term?

I cold beer for the first good response :D (You'll have to drive her to get it, but hey!)

Can't help directly but this site ADSL Guide (http://www.adslguide.org.uk/) may be able to

Matt

Further to my last post, I have just sussed out that Virgin (http://www.virgin.net/internetaccess/broadband/?buspart=256&LID=bnc) offer different broadband packages, none of which have contracts!

Seek and ye shall find...

Bulldog (http://www.bulldogbroadband.com/residential/XPNP/ST/index.asp) is one

so does Pipex (http://www.solo.pipex.net/) (see full specifications) - a fee applies if you cancel within 12 months

plus.net (http://www.plus.net/residential/broadband/broadband_home_features.shtml) too

And probably more ...

Eclipse.net.uk do monthly contracts. I'm on them and they're pretty good.

Top services are:

1) Metronet (http://www.metronet.co.uk/) pay as your go 3 month contract
Following all have monthly contract
2) Freedom2surf (http://www.freedom2surf.net/)
3) Zen Internet (http://www.zen.co.uk/)
4) Nildram (http://www.nildram.net/)
5) Eclipse (http://www.eclipse.net.uk/)
6) Plusnet (http://www.plus.net/)
7) Force 9 (http://www.f9.net.uk/)

Word of advice on the monthly contracts look at the small print in terms of offers for free equipment/reduced migration costs etc. If you cancel within a 12 month period there maybe a cancellation charge. :{

As usual there is no such thing as a freebie :ok:

Once again I'm happy to recommend Zen (http://zenadsl.co.uk). To avoid the risk of repeating myself, go here (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=184298) for a previous thread on why. Other posters also had good things to say. Minimum contract one month. Perhaps a tad expensive if you're a student of the skint variety, but worth every penny.

btw DaySleeper - how are you getting on? Everything fine I hope.

Jx ;)
