Anyone know if I can get hold of a copy of an ATPL training programme? Disk based rather that books (from Transair etc.) as too heavy to take away with me!

I'm off overseas for 6 months and will be taking my PPL whilst away.

Wanting to take a disk with me so I can pre-study, but as most will know you cannot sign up to a groundschool until you have your PPL.

If I can take a copy with me will be well on my way into study before returning to UK and then sign up to a groundschool.

Don't see any harm in getting a 'copy' here as will still have to sign up and pay full amount to groundschool in order to get ATPL the thing is I just want to start study earlier!

Any help much appreciated!

Even if you are intending to go and purchase the full program its still software "theft" under copyright law.

If you're looking towards using Bristol then I'm sure they sell their computer based program seperately.

Have a word with them to see if you could then have a discount from the groundschool package if you if you have already bought the software at an earlier date. Not sure if there is such a scheme though.

As you're doing you're PPL whilst you're away, then I wouldn't really bother looking at the ATPL course until you're ready to start studying. You'll have enough on your plate with doing your PPL as it is.

The Bristol CD is a duplicate of their notes, and also has their progress test software on there so you can e-mail them back as you go rather than posting them. You can copy bits of text from them and write your own notes if that is how you prefer to work. Works for me anyway.

You can buy the disks from schools, but you cannot start the course is my understanding. Using a borrowed copy is theft by the way.
