Are there any problems in flying in Oz on holiday on an FAA ppl? Or renting?

(Apologies if this is an ancient thread)

not too many probs at present with the licence. But all the new security regulations soon to be in place will pose a problem, with all the security checks.
As for hiring a plane most places will show you the inbound and outbound procedures of the aerodrome (if GAAP or C aerodrome) and do a checkflight.
Minovation on the west coast have quite a good rep for hiring planes to overseas clients for trips.

Have a good and safe trip flying around oz!

I was under the impression that you couldnt fly here in an AUS reg A/C although you can fly here without permission in a US reg A/C....

Just as i can fly all over the world in a VH reg A/C but not in another country's A/C

Make sense?

Read on AVWEB tonite that GOANA is closing up shop after 12 years because of the new licencing regeme. The red tape has strangled another small business.:(

Look up the CASA website www.casa.gov.au and you will find everything you need.

As it stands, or stood, any country thats a signátaory to ICAO will accept another contries Licence on a same for same basis at least at PPL Level. Of course you will need a current medical and fulfill local recency and currancy rules , ie do at least a BFR and you are on your way
