I’ve been trying to contact the Darwin Aero Club. Their website still exists but hasn’t been modified for years and the phone number shown there is disconnected. They are not listed in the phone book.

Does the club still exist? Is there much GA flying there? It seems the active pilots are flying ultralights more than VH registered aircraft.

What has happened to GA?

The Darwin Aero Club got wound up in the late 90's after a lawsuit wiped them out. There was an accident at Gove which from memory which killed 4 people. The Gove Aero Club and the legendary Jabiru Aero Club were subsidiarys and operated on weekends when DAC instructors travelled out. They went down in the train wreck also. I hope that's what you're looking for. See the other thread on a flying school in Darwin ....

I'm not sure why Darwin Aero Club was wound up.

They did have an association with Gove Aero Club back in the late 80's and 90's though.

Gove Aero Club had an accident at Lake Evella in the late 80's which killed 3 people.

This may have something to do with the demise of DAC.
