Are there any Canadians at CX who can tell me wether we as Canadians have to get a working Visa for our training in Adelaide Australia? Our offer letter says "YOU MAY NEED TO GET A VISA".

If so, how did you go about getting the VISA? I have been looking online to see if Canadians require the visa but I can't find the answer anywhere. I would call but it's the weekend. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Thanks

What you need is called a Business ETA. It can be done electronically on the internet in about 5 mins however I don't have the link handy.

OK, I been doing some research and here's what I found. BAE System is listed with Ministry Education as a school that provide Non-award education. Now going back to the Ministry of Immigration website, there is a student visa for Non-award type education. So that probably mean non Aussie will need a student visa when his or her undertakes flight training with BAE. Here are the links:

Overview of Student Visa Program (http://www.immi.gov.au/study/overview/index.htm)

Visa Types and Conditions (http://www.immi.gov.au/study/visas/index.htm)

Disclaimer: I'm not an employee of Cathay Pacific or employee of the Australia government. I do not and cannot ensure my information is 100% correct. Therefore, please contact the Australian embassy.

I applied for my visa early on when I first received the paperwork, but then was asked to renew my passport as it only had 10 months validity. Unfortunately, I neglected to update my passport number with the Australian authorities and had the gate agents scrambling a little to correct the problem when boarding the a/c for ADL out of HKG. Turned out not to be a huge deal, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it! So, update passport first, if needed, and then apply for the visa would be my advice!

Cheers!
